I was just trying a few games at random tonight and came across Gunbird 2 - it's quite similar to Lightning Fighters (bullet hell vertical shooter) but is better executed all round.

I'd never seen this (or the original Gunbird) before, I'm guessing perhaps they only appeared in Japan?

Anyway, for fans of these types of games, I recommend trying out Gunbird 2. Runs really nicely on a Rpi 3.

@gtbfilms From playing so much these last few weeks now, I think I have level 4 memorised, I think the easiest way is through the warp though :)

You need Lr-Mame 2010. You get a single screen as default (vs split screen in lr-mame2003)

same here. not shortly after, we got nes, had it jailbroken with dozens more crammed into a single board, that, not even 4th of its size.

Well, the 3 B/B+ can be shortened considerably, there are hack projects for that. The battery is definitely overkill as well. My battery life is easily 8hrs+ with a 10,000 mAh battery. I can use a prefab sound card from Adafruit and lose that bulk too. The display won't be a problem it is actually very thin and the same footprint as the Pi. However, I really love the feel of a full size controller, and I don't think I'm stuffing that combo in my pocket any time soon.

However, when I finalize the build, I'm going to be ADDING weight in the form of RF shielding of the sound board and Pi/display. The sound board is picking up too much crap no matter how many filter caps I throw in the circuit.
